Barely is a wonderful ingredient if you are trying to lose weight. Because of its high fibre content, this wholegrain keeps you satiated for a longer period of time preventing hunger pangs and overeating. Not just this, it is low in calories and saturated fats.
Not just for weight loss, barely has other benefits also such as lowering bad cholesterol in your body and reducing the risk of heart disease. There are different ways you can include barley in your diet. Here are a few of them:
You can use barley flour to make rotis and parathas. It is more nutritious than wheat chapattis. If you cannot have them every day, you can have it at least once a week to reap in its benefits. This way your carb intake will be less and you won’t have to give up eating rotis either. Here is the recipe – jau roti and jau paratha.
Another way to add barley to your diet is to drink barley water. This low-calorie drink is made using barley seeds that swell up on boiling with water. Drinking it every day can help you flush out toxins and also maintain your weight. Here is the right way to prepare it.
